About

RandomFool.Net is built on Wordpress version 2.5.x. The theme is a modified version of the default Wordpress theme created by Michael Heilmann. Nifty Corners Cube is used to create the rounded corners. I also use Scriptaculous, Prototype and Lightbox for some of the fancy effect you may or may not see. There a bunch of Wordpress plugins in use as well but I don’t feel like listing them all. It’s rather simple at the moment but I’m working on it (slowly, very slowly).

Originally the intent of this site was to give me a place to play web designer. I messed with Html, CSS, JS and PHP to my hearts content. The site consisted of a small amount of videos, jokes and quote I had collected from around the web. Eventually it became a homegrown PHP & Javascript based CMS system I called FoolCMS. It worked well enough but lacked roughly 99% of the features Wordpress and just about any other CMS had. Really the only thing FoolCMS had going for it was it gave me the satisfaction of knowing that I had written the thing. I originally planned to add more features to it but never had the time and when I did have time it was mostly spent fixing bugs. So I switched to Wordpress, which has worked out well. I also dumped most of the old content since it wasn’t really worth the time to move it over. The site is still a just place for me to mess around with web development but now I can focus less on reinventing the wheel and more on actually accomplishing something. Plus it also gives me a place where I can post my thoughts on whatever.
